Strong quake jolts parts of country

ISLAMABAD: Strong earthquake struck several parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, FATA and Punjab, creating panic among the residents on Friday afternoon.

Seismological centre recorded magnitude of the quake at 5.9 on the Richter scale.

Tremors were felt in Islamabad, Lahore, Peshawar, Lower Dir, Malakand, Chitral, Hazara division, Kurram Agency, Mohmand Agency, North and South Waziristan, Gilgit-Baltistan, Astore, Diamer and others.

The epicentre of the quake was Handukush and its depth was 232 kilometers.

No loss of life and property has been recorded.

This is the third quake reported to hit the northern areas since beginning of 2016.
