PM chairs high-level civil-military meeting
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday chaired a high-level civil-military meeting in Islamabad to discuss the prevailing security situation in the country.
The meeting also discussed progress in the investigation into the recent terrorist attack on Pathankot air base in India near the Pakistan border.
The meeting today comes amid renewed efforts by Islamabad to ease diplomatic tensions with India and to restart stalled Afghan peace negotiations with the Taliban.
it was informed that progress has been made in the investigations in the Pathankot incident. It was told that some members of banned Jaish-e-Muhammad have initially been arrested in this connection.
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Raheel Sharif, Director-General (DG) Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Lieutenant General Rizwan Akhtar, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, PM's Adviser on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz, Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif, and other senior officials attended the meeting.
