President for improving performance of literary institutions
ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain said on Tuesday that reviving the status of educational, literary and historical institutions and improving their performance was need of the hour.
“Our young generation should not only be aware of the teachings of our elders but should also develop a passion for literature,” the president said while talking to Adviser to the Prime Minister on National History and Literary Heritage Irfan Siddiqui, who had called on him at the Presidency. Irfan Siddiqui briefed the president about his new responsibilities. Separately, Mamnoon said Pakistan and Bulgaria have immense potential in the fields of trade and culture and called for taking benefit from these opportunities. He was talking to Pakistan’s ambassador-designate to Bulgaria, AS Babar Hashmi, who also called on him here at the Presidency. The president asked the ambassador-designate to play an effective role in this regard and apprise the Bulgarian traders about investment opportunities in Pakistan and facilities being extended by the government to this end. He urged him to convince Bulgarian entrepreneurs for joint ventures in generation of electricity from coal and in textile sector. President Mamnoon said there was a scope for enhancing cultural cooperation between the two countries and added that exchange of cultural delegations between Pakistan and Bulgaria could be effective in promoting the image of Pakistan as a progressive country.
