FO confirms Pak-India Foreign Secretary-level talks deferred

ISLAMABAD: Foreign Secretary-level talks between Pakistan and India are not taking place tomorrow (Thursday), January 15, Pakistan’s Foreign Office has confirmed.

Confirming the postponement of the talks, Pakistan’s Foreign Office spokesman Qazi Khalilullah said, “Islamabad is in touch with India for new dates of the meeting.”

Over the arrest of Jaish-e-Mohammad Chief, the spokesman said he had no such information.

Foreign Secretary of Pakistan Aizaz Chaudhry and his Indian counterpart S Jaishankar were scheduled to meet in Islamabad tomorrow, January 15.

India on Wednesday deferred the decision to hold foreign secretary level talks with Pakistan till the return of its national secretary advisor Ajit Doval from France, Press Trust of India said citing official sources.

The decision came even as India waited till late evening Wednesday for confirmation of arrest of Jaish-e-Muhammad chief Masood Azhar, who is believed to have masterminded the terror strike on the Pathankot air base on the intervening night of January 1 and 2.
