US wants Pakistan, India to continue talks

WASHINGTON: The United States has said that it wanted Pakistan and India to continue to have dialogues and look for ways to cooperate against a common threat (terrorism).

In a daily briefing, US State Department Spokesman John Kirby said, “We talked about this not long ago at a recent conversation between both Prime Ministers Sharif and Narendra Modi. We – that was a welcome sign, both condemning the terrorist attack on the air station and expressing their shared commitment to fighting terrorism.”

Kirby said it was exactly the kind of commitment that the US wanted them to continue to make.

The spokesman went on to say that the US is encouraged by the dialogue that has recently taken place between India and Pakistan, and it would like to see that continue.
