US favours continuation of Pak-India peace talks

WASHINGTON – The United States said that it wanted Pakistan and India to continue to have dialogues and look for ways to cooperate against a common threat (terrorism), private TV channel reported.

“We talked about this not long ago at a recent conversation between both Prime Ministers Nawaz Sharif and Narendra Modi. We – that was a welcome sign, both condemning the terrorist attack on the air station and expressing their shared commitment to fighting terrorism,” US State Department spokesman John Kirby said, during a daily briefing.

Kirby said that it was exactly the kind of commitment that the US wanted them to continue to make. He said that the US was encouraged by the dialogue that has recently taken place between India and Pakistan, adding that it would like to see that continue.
