Death toll from Bacha Khan university attack reaches 21

CHARSADDA: One more person, injured in a brazen terrorist attack on the Bacha Khan University, succumbed to his wounds, raising the death toll to 21 in the rampage.

According to the Lady Reading Hospital officials, injured Mohammad Ayaz belonging to Mohmand tribal agency was being treated and died on Thursday morning.

They went on to say that two more persons wounded in the attack were still being treated at the facility.

Meanwhile, a case of attack has been lodged in Anti-Terrorism Mardan Region on Thursday.

The FIR was registered on the complaint of SHO Sardheri police station. Terrorism, murder and attempt to murder charges have been included in the case.

According to the text of the FIR, the militants stormed the university at 8:30 AM and the gunfight with police and security forces began at 9:00 AM, which continued till 1:00PM.

Eyewitnesses said the four attackers also used the sugarcane fields behind the university as a cover. They cut the barbed-wire that fenced the campus perimeter and then shot dead a security guard.

The militants made it to the hostels and other buildings amid the thick fog and then went on a rampage, firing randomly and killing at least 20 persons, including students, staff members, a professor, and causing injuries to at least 35 others.
