Seminaries being brought into mainstream under NAP, Senate told

ISLAMABAD – State Minister for Interior and Education Balighur Rehman has said that the religious seminaries are being registered under the National Action Plan to bring them into the mainstream.
Responding to a call attention notice in the Senate, Balighur Rehman said that the main target of recent terror attack in Quetta was not the polio workers but the law enforcement agencies.
He said stringent security measures were being taken for the successful implementation of polio immunisation campaign. He said that the religious seminaries were being registered under the National Action Plan to bring them into the mainstream.
Replying to the questions, Minister of State for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali said that the government was pursuing renewable energy projects to meet the growing requirements of power. He said that the power plants were being shifted to regasified liqueified natural gas (RLNG) and the coal to produce the electricity.
He said these were all environment-friendly projects and 3600 megawatt of electricity would be produced through the RLNG as per the policy.
Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Shaikh Aftab Ahmad told the House that the selection of Hujjaj was being carried out through a transparent balloting process. He presented the State Bank of Pakistan’s first quarterly report for the year 2015-16 on the country’s economy.
Minister for Housing and Works Akram Khan Durrani told the House that a number of schemes were being launched to provide housing facilities to the federal government employees.
Members of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement staged a walkout from the House over the increasing incidents of terrorism in the country. The House has now been prorogued.
