MQM stages protest demo against ban on Altaf’s speeches
KARACHI: Leaders and workers of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Sunday staged a protest demonstration demanding the lifting of ban airing and publishing of speeches by the party chief Altaf Hussain in both electronic and print media.
Addressing the participants of the demonstration, Dr Farooq Sattar said a need of the hour for Pakistan is a ‘formula of minus-status quo and minus-terrorism’.
He said in democracy the freedom of expression is given a high regard.
The Lahore High Court (LHC) last year imposed a ban on the broadcasting and publishing of ‘anti-state’ speeches by the MQM chief.
