Another earthquake felt in parts of KP

ISLAMABAD: A 5.2-magnitude earthquake was felt in Swat, Chitral, Malakand and adjoining areas of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on Sunday morning. According to Radio Pakistan, epicentre of the earthquake was in the Hindukush Range in the Badakhshan area of Afghanistan. People came out of their houses reciting Quranic verses. No loss of life or property was reported. The United States Geological Survey said the earthquake was recorded as 4.4-magnitude-strong on the Richter scale. Earlier on Saturday, a moderate earthquake of 3.9-magnitude had jolted several districts of the country. Tremors were felt across Bajaur Agency, Federally Administered Tribal Areas, Chitral, Buner and Malakand. “The quake’s epicentre was the Afghanistan-Tajikistan border region and it occurred at a depth of 172 kilometres,” the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said. An earthquake was felt in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the Federally Administered Tribal Areas on January 8.
