SC orders verification of thumb impressions for NA-125 Lahore
ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Tuesday ordered NADRA to verify thumb impressions for NA-125 Lahore-8 and submit its report in three months.
Khawaja Saad Rafique of Pakistan Muslim League-N had won NA-125 in the general elections of 2013, defeating Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) candidate Hamid Khan.
It is one of the four constituencies whose scrutiny had been repeatedly demanded by the PTI.
Today, the SC ordered for verification of thumb impressions and the counter foils of votes cast in NA-125, adding, the cost of verification will be born by PTI’s Hamid Khan who was runner up in this constituency.
During the proceedings, Justice Azmat Saeed Sheikh in his remarks said how verification of thumb impressions could be a problem for Saad Rafique who is sitting in the assembly.
In the general elections of 2013, Khawaja Saad Rafique had secured 123,416 votes against PTI’s Hamid Khan who had bagged 83,190.
