High treason case: ex-PM to record statement in UAE

ISLAMABAD – Former prime minister Shaukat Aziz has expressed his willingness to record statement in high treason case in the United Arab States on February 7.

A private TV channel reported that the former prime minister has refused to appear before a court in Pakistan due to unknown reasons, but he is willing to be part of the investigation. A team comprising officials of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) would travel to UAE to record his statement next month.

Wajid Zia – Additional Director of the FIA – would spearhead the agency’s team in UAE. Former president Gen (r) Pervez Musharraf – prime accused in the high treason case – recorded his statement on December 21 last year before the special court adjourned hearing till February 18.
