Don’t lose hope in face terror attacks: Nisar
Minister says apart from enemy ‘some friends’ want to take advantage of situation

ISLAMABAD – Federal Minister for Interior Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Monday said that there was no need to lose hope in the face of terror attacks, adding it is unfair to ignore the successes against terrorism.

Addressing a conference at National Defence University here, the minister said that some political parties and individuals were trying to score brownie points over the security and interests of Pakistan. He said that those who were resorting to negative propaganda must know that today all the graphs representing terrorism in Pakistan are pointing south.

According to private TV channel, he credited the improvement in Pakistan’s security situation to political consensus and civil-military understanding. Nisar held internal, regional and geo-political elements responsible for disrupting Pakistan’s security. He said that apart from the enemy ‘some friends’ also want to take advantage of the situation by creating instability in Pakistan.

The minister said unfortunately none of the previous governments could devise an internal security policy or framework. He said that five-six bomb blasts were the order of the day and both the life and property of the people were unsafe, he pointed out, regretting that the previous government turned a blind eye to all this.

After the Army Public School attack – Nisar said – the government chalked out Pakistan’s first-ever National Action Plan (NAP) to deal with terrorism in the shortest possible time. “It will be quite unfair to feign ignorance to the successes achieved under the NAP, made possible only through continued efforts of the armed forces, including security and intelligence agencies,” he added.
