PIA employees protest against privatisation
*Joint Action Committee demands to take back PIA privatisation bill*also threatens to suspend aerial operation from February 2
KARACHI – Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) Joint Action Committee on Tuesday staged a protest against passing the bill of PIA privatisation in National Assembly.
According to a channel – despite the ban on protests inside the premises of the head office by the PIA administration – Joint Action Committee held a protest in front of the head office. The protest was attended by the representative of all the associations of the employees, pilots and officers.
The employees closed all the offices and halted booking, cargo and courier services. The workers stated that government is illegally privatising PIA which is not accepted at any cost. They locked all offices and demanded of to take back PIA privatisation bill.
They further threatened to suspend aerial operation from February 2. Sohail Baloch said that they are in contact with Civil Aviation, Railway, Steel mills, oil tankers and other institutes and companies’ labour unions and in case of need they all will be with the employees of PIA.
