SHC seeks govt’s comments on petition over 'missing Pak prisoners'

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) Tuesday sought comments of the Federal government on the constitutional petition filed by human rights activist Ansar Burney over ‘189 missing Pakistani prisoners from Indian jails’.

According to a statement issued by Ansar Burney Trust International, the court during the course of today’s hearing ordered the Deputy Attorney General to submit comments on behalf of the Federation of Pakistan within two weeks.

The two-judge SHC bench headed by Chief Justice Sajjad Ali Shah and comprising Justice Anwar Hussain, asked the petitioner to provide a copy of petition to the office of Attorney General.

The order was immediately complied with as the copy was presented to Deputy Attorney General, Asim Khan who was present in the Court.

Ansar Burney has, in his petition, stated his shock over what he termed silence and ignorance of the Pakistan government over the disturbing reports about 189 Pakistani prisoners who have gone missing from Indian prisons.
