Will challenge govt if it pushed for PIA privatization: Shah

ISLAMABAD: Opposition leader in the National Assembly, Syed Khursheed Shah on Wednesday said the government would be challenged in case it pushed hard for privatizing the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA).

Talking to media men here, Khursheed Shah said PIA’s privatization reeks of government’s ill-will.

Despite the promise of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif that PIA would not be privatize, legislation was done without taking the opposition into confidence. “If the government tried to privatize PIA through use of force, we will stand up to it,” he warned.

He complained that the government was not letting the benefit of decreasing oil prices to trickle down to the people. “Although the oil price stands at its lowest today, the people continue to suffer at the hands of price hike,” he regretted.
