PM concerned over political situation in Sindh
Prime Minister Imran Khan has expressed concern over the current political situation in Sindh and said that he will soon visit the province and hold meetings with key political figures, a private TV channel reported.
The prime minister held a telephonic conversation with Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) leader Ali Gohar Mehr on Saturday, during which he expressed concern over present situation in Sindh.
Confirming the telephonic contact, a spokesman for PTI Sindh chapter said the prime minister has accepted Mehr’s invitation to visit Sindh.
On the other hand, Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry called Sindh Governor Imran Ismail and discussed possible actions in the wake of the report of a joint investigation team (JIT) probing laundering of multi-billion rupees from fictitious bank accounts, and the political situation in the province.
Chaudhry will be visiting the province on Sunday (today), where he will hold meetings with members of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and the GDA.
Speaking to media, Special Assistant to Prime Minister Iftikhar Durrani said a change of leadership in Sindh was inevitable, stressing the need for a chief minister who was not under investigation. Responding to a question about Governor’s Rule in Sindh, he said PPP should itself think as how they were to run the government.
Durrani said the JIT report included evidence with regard to Sindh chief minister facilitating Omni Group. He alleged Murad Ali Shah of facilitating Zardari Group in his capacity as the chief minister.
The PM’s aide said that everyone will have to accept Supreme Court’s verdict with regard to the JIT probing the mega money laundering case.
