Governor, CM, PA speaker vow to work together for province’s development
* Sarwar, Buzdar, Elahi hold important meeting in Governor’s House
Punjab Governor Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar, Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar and Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi held an important meeting and vowed to work jointly for development and prosperity of province. They also appreciated Prime Minister Imran Khan’s efforts to strengthen the country economically as well as measures taken by the federal government.
According to details, Punjab Governor Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar, Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar and Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi held an important meeting here at Governor House on Wednesday. Provincial Minister for law Raja Muhammad Basharat and irrigation minister Sardar Mohsin Leghari and others were also present on this occasion. The meeting discussed political situation in Punjab, clean drinking water, public welfare programmes and developmental projects.
On this occasion, Punjab Governor Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar said that Punjab government is taking such steps with regard to public wellbeing in the province which had no precedence in the past, and historic legislative work has been done in Punjab Assembly. “In Sha Allah, we will work together to make the province developed and prosper by all means, while people’s problems will be resolved through local governments at their door step. Year 2020 will prove to be year of development, prosperity, peace and stability for Pakistan,” he added. Punjab Governor said that country has been set to a right direction and no one can stop Pakistan to move forward, as every policy of PTI government is in accordance with people’s expectation and the promise of ‘one Pakistan: not the two’ will be fulfilled. He vowed that rights of people of Punjab will be ensured at all costs.
Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar said, we are moving ahead while taking along the allies as per vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan. He added that PTI is not making mere promises but taking practical measures due to which an eminent change is being witnessed in every sector in Punjab, asserting that people are standing with the government.
While, Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi said that they are standing beside the PTI governments in federal and Punjab, and In Sha Allah, present government will pull the country out of crisis and ensure real development and prosperity.
Earlier, Lahore High Court (LHC) Justice Mamoon Rashid Sheikh has taken oath as 49th Chief Justice of LHC. Punjab Governor Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar administered oath to Justice Mamoon Rashid Sheikh as Chief Justice. According to detail, oath-taking ceremony for 49th Chief Justice of Lahore High Court was held here at Governor House in which Punjab Governor Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar administered oath to Justice Mamoon Rashid Sheikh as Chief Justice.
The ceremony was attended among others by Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar and Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi, Attorney General of Pakistan Anwar Mansoor, Provincial Ministers Raja Muhammad Basharat, Dr. Akhtar Malik and Sardar Mohsin Khan Leghari, and judges of Lahore High Court, Chief Secretary, IG Punjab, representatives of bar councils and large number of lawyers. They also felicitated the new LHC Chief Justice Mamoon Rashid Sheikh.
Separately, Pervaiz Elahi called on Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar on Wednesday and discussed matters of mutual interest. Both reiterated the commitment to work jointly for public service and chief minister appreciated the performance of Ch. Pervaiz Elahi for managing Punjab Assembly business in the best of manner. Both also expressed the commitment to boldly counter conspiracies and hurdles.
Ch. Pervaiz Elahi said that we are supporting Chief Minister Usman Buzdar and would be siding with him in future as well. He vowed to jointly work in the new year as well. We are an ally of PTI and our alliance is stronger than before. The desires of those trying to dent it would remain unfulfilled this year as well, he added. He further said that Usman Buzdar is serving the masses with hard work. In my period, Punjab portrayed a picture of development and we left a surplus kitty; but regrettably, the past government bankrupted the province and my public welfare projects succumbed to the personal ego, he added and further said that people suffered due to delay in the execution of these projects.
Chief Minister Usman Buzdar expressed the commitment to continue working with the allies. The best working relationship exists with the PML-Q in Punjab. The opposition has no agenda and it is engaged in politics of non-issues. The journey of public service will be accelerated in the new year without caring for any criticism because the era of befooling the people with hollow slogans is over, he added. Instead of giving any relief to the people, they were put in troubles during the past tenure. The conspirators will face defeat in2020 as well, he added. Punjab government has made record legislation in a short period and its performance is much better than other provincial assemblies, he concluded.
Former AJK Prime Minister Barrister Sultan Mehmood also called on Chief Minister Usman Buzdar at his office and discussed matters of mutual interest. Both strongly condemned Indian barbarity in Occupied Kashmir and controversial citizenship (amendment) act. Usman Buzdar said that 150 days long curfew and lockdown have failed to suppress the passion and freedom struggle of the Kashmiris. The Indian policy of oppression and tyranny has totally failed in the Occupied Kashmir, he said. India is burning in its own fire and the day is not far when India will be balkanized. He said that people of Punjab are firmly standing with their Kashmiri brethren and our hearts beat in unison. Punjab is assisting Azad Kashmir in its development, he added. The chief minister said that roads linking Azad Kashmir will be repaired and repair and maintenance of Dina to Mangla Road will be completed soon. Similarly, Mangla-Jatlan Canal Road will also be constructed. I will soon visit Jhelum and steps will be taken to solve the problems of the people, he added.
Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry said that India has converted Occupied Kashmir into jail while Kashmiris have kindled the freedom struggle with their blood. Prime Minister Imran Khan has boldly fought the core issue of Kashmir at every forum. The efforts of Usman Buzdar are bearing fruits and a change is visible in the province. Similarly, Usman Buzdar’s vision of composite development of the province is also praiseworthy, he added.
Chairman FIEDMC Mian Kashif Ashfaq called on Chief Minister Usman Buzdar at his office and apprised him about the progress made on the project of special economic zone ‘Allama Iqbal Industrial City’ in Faisalabad and laying of the foundation stone on January 3 by Prime Minister Imran Khan. Talking on this occasion, the chief minister said that a special economic zone is a gift of the new year which will play an important role in industrial development. Foreign investors have shown great interest in Allama Iqbal Industrial City which will provide direct employment opportunities to three lakh people while one million others will be indirectly benefited. An investment to the tune of billions of dollars will be made. Punjab has been made a role model province with regard to investment, he added. Mian Kashif Ashfaq disclosed that different Chinese companies have signed agreements for investment.
Chief Minister Usman Buzdar has sought a report from CCPO Lahore about the death of domestic servant in PS Chung area. He directed to provide justice to the aggrieved family adding that matter should be completely investigated upon and legal action be initiated against the responsible persons. He also extended sympathies to the bereaved family. Meanwhile, police have registered a case and owner of the house has been arrested.
Chief Minister Usman Buzdar expressed a deep sense of sorrow and grief over the death of the mother of Asif Jafferi, senior journalist and a member of Lahore Press Club. In a condolence message, the chief minister expressed sympathies and prayed that may Allah Almighty rest the departed soul in eternal peace.
