No cases against president being withdrawn: Awan

ISLAMABAD: The cases against President Asif Ali Zardari would not be withdrawn as the courts have already declared him innocent in many cases, Law Minister Babar Awan said on Wednesday.

“The president has faced cases for the last 15 years and no charge has so far been proved against him,” Awan said while talking to reporters at the Parliament House.

“Even the prime minister faced cases and the court declared him innocent,” he said, adding that the cases against Nawaz Sharif had also been withdrawn. He said the Punjab government had disbursed Rs 92.1 million to bar councils during the lawyers’ long march, adding that the amount was also mentioned in the provincial government’s supplementary grant. He demanded that Nawaz justify the disbursement. app
