Countrywide protests against terror attacks
KARACHI: Nation came out strongly against the suicide bombings after the attacks on the shrine of Sufi saint Abul Hassan Ali Ibn-e-Usman al-Hajvery known as Data Ganj Bakhsh on Thursday.
Protests were held across country over the loss of human lives, caused by this heinous act of terrorism at the shrine.
More than 5,000 people, mostly followers of the saint, staged a protest rally in Lahore after Friday prayers and similar demonstrations were held in other cities across the country.
They were shouting "Down with terrorism". The government's repeated vows to defeat terrorists were ridiculed.
Now the government should use its iron hand instead of threatening to use it after every such attack," protestors demanded.
Most bazaars and markets remained closed and large numbers of police were on patrol in Lahore.
Jamiat Ulama Pakistan, Jamaat Ahl-e-Sunnat and other parties staged protests in Hyderabad and burnt tyres.
Protests were also held in Nawabshah, Sadiqabad and Rahim Yar Khan against the attacks.
