Country mourns Data Darbar Tragedy


LAHORE: The strike and protests by various political and religious parties are underway across the national frontiers against the suicide attacks at Data Darbar, Geo News reported Saturday.

Hyderabad is witnessing complete strike with markets shut and black flags hoisted on roads and crossroads on the call by the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) against the suicide blasts at Data Darbar, Lahore, on Thursday.

Larkana is under partial strike with black flags waving on some points of the city. Nawabshah is also observing mourning on the call by Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) with black flags raised on various places.

The Sunni Tehreek (ST) also staged sit-in in front of Press Club in Dadu. Protest rallies were taken out in Noshehro Feroz against Data Darbar Tragedy.

Complete strike is being observed in Mirpur Khas, Sanghar and Tando Adam with black banners and flags have been put in place on various points.

Partial strike was observed in Faisalabad on the appeal by various political and religious parties. In Gojra, strike was organized by various organizations of Ahle Sunnat and trade groups.

Gujranwala also convened protest demonstrations to express solidarity with the deceased in the Data Darbar Tragedy. Multan is mourning with partial strike.

Stick-wielding youth forced the closure of shops opened in the morning in Kalay Mandi. Sunni Tehreek organized protests on some places.

The lawyers of Bahawalpur District boycotted the courts in protest against the tragedy. A rally was taken out from Noorul Masajid under aegis of Jama’at Ahle Sunnat in Checha Watni.

A protest demonstration was organized in Rahim Yar Khan from Lakar Mandi to Railway Chawk under auspices of Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan; also a rally was taken out, later on.

Partial strike was organized in Hub also against the tragedy on the call by Jamaat Ahle Sunnat.
