Lawyer snubs Awan for ‘buying to rule’
PATOKI: A naat-khawn lawyer, who declined to accept award of Rs50,000 from Federal Law Minister Dr. Babar Awan, said the minister is out and around buying lawyers to rule, Geo News reported Saturday.
On visit today to Patoki Bar, when the federal minister announced grant for the Bar, he also declared Rs50,000 for a lawyer Yasin who recited naat shareef at the ceremony.
Yasin, who later on introduced himself while talking to media as senior advocate at Patoki Bar, said he is practicing law for 20 years now and has always recited naat shareef on similar occasions at the Bar.
The lawyer said he refused the money award from the minister, as the government, under present circumstances, is trying to buy the lawyers, adding, ‘Every lawyer is not a commodity on sale.’
Earlier, he addressed to the federal minister Awan, “Babar Awan Sahib, you are to me like elder brother. Years ago, the policy had it ‘to divide and rule’, which has turned now into ‘buy and rule’.”
