Pak-China joint military exercise begins

ISLAMABAD: A Pakistan Army contingent has reached China to participate in the third joint military training exercise, YOUYI- III (friendship) being held at Qixtonxia in Yeuhuan, said a news release on Friday.
Troops of the Special Services Group of both the countries will participate in the week-long exercise which will continue till July 7. The exercise has been designed to benefit from the professional skills employed by the two Special Forces Group at the sub-unit level. Senior military leadership of the Pakistan Army and the People’s Liberation Army will also attend the exercise.
The aim of the exercise is to practice counter-terrorism mechanisms along with drills in mountains and developing interpersonal rapport between participants of both sides. The unprecedented success of Pakistan in counter-terrorism operations has contributed to an environment in which both the armies have sought to hold a joint exercise.
