‘Mufti Muneeb’s allegations against Taseer baseless’

LAHORE: A spokesman for the Governor House on Sunday refuted the allegations levelled by Mufti Muneebur Rehman in a press conference on July 3 (Saturday), where he accused Punjab Governor Salmaan Taseer to have been in the company of the general secretary of a banned organisation during the elections.According to a press release, the spokesman said that Rehman’s allegations of the Punjab governor travelling with the general secretary of a banned organisation – in a helicopter trip during the elections – are completely baseless. He said Rehman was unaware of the fact that the Punjab governor had always strongly opposed all such banned outfits. The Punjab governor opposed all banned organisations, and his public condemnation of such groups had led to the governor receiving life threats, the spokesman said. Despite being threatened by the extremists, the Punjab governor was committed to fighting the terrorists until every last one of them was eliminated, he added. pr
