Passage of resolution against media not PML-N policy: Shahbaz

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that the passage of the resolution against the media was not part of the policy of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and vowed that "we will scrap the resolution together", a private TV channel reported on Saturday. Addressing a programme held to distribute lease documents of 2,118 acres of land among 123 agriculture graduates in Rahim Yar Khan, Shahbaz said the anger displayed by journalists was valid, adding that he "also said yesterday that the sacrifices rendered by the journalists deserve accolades". The chief minister said 73,000 acres of land had been distributed in the first phase. He said the land would be distributed among agriculture graduates across Punjab, so that the cultivation of land could be undertaken using modern techniques. Shahbaz said that in the future, land would also be given away to graduates majoring in forestry, the channel reported. Shahbaz also announced various development projects worth Rs 3.5 billion for the uplift of Cholistan, the channel said. daily times monitor
