HEC investigation finds 29 lawmakers’ degrees fake

 

ISLAMABAD: The Higher Education Commission (HEC) on Tuesday declared 29 of the 511 degrees of public representatives – sent to universities to be verifies –fake. According to the universities, 33 degrees were pronounced dubious and needed to be counter-checked. The three-member HEC committee formed to supervise the verification of degrees of the members of parliament and provincial assemblies told reporters that the commission had received a total of 936 degrees of public representatives that were sent to universities and institutions concerned for verification. “We have received 511 degrees back from universities, of which 29 are fake and 33 others need to be counter-checked,” Dr Mehmood Raza, who heads the HEC committee, told the reporters. staff report
