Irsa re-opens CJ canal on Punjab request
LAHORE: Indus River System Authority (IRSA) re-opened Chashma-Jhelum canal on the request by Punjab, which will immediately receive 15,000 cusec of water, Geo News reported Thursday.
The Irsa wrote to Punjab's Senior Minister Raja Riaz Ahmed that water situation is better at all barrages which are still rising; accordingly, the Authority opened the CJ Link Canal.
Punjab will receive 15,000 cusecs of water immediately on canal re-opening.
The letter urged on adjustment of water emanating from Tarbela, so that any potential injustice to any side could be averted.
The Irsa letter is undersigned by its Chairman Raqeeb Khan, who also represents Khyber Pakhtoonkhaw and the representatives of Sindh, Punjab and the Federation.
However, there is no signature by Irsa member from Balochistan Syed Ali Shah in the letter.
