US-Pak nuke deal unlikely sans world satisfaction: Clinton
ISLAMABAD: US Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton said Pakistan and India would have to undertake bold steps in order to resolve the Kashmir issue, Geo News reported Monday.Addressing the representatives of civil society here, she said the US cannot force its discretion on to Pakistan and India regarding Kashmir, stressing the issue should be resolved through negotiations between the two countries.
She continued the negotiations should be a continuous process, as there is no short cut in the resolution of Kashmir issue.
The US supports the Indo-Pak negotiation process; likewise, the trade ties need to be boosted, she stressed.
India tops anti-terrorism in its agenda and Pakistan puts Kashmir issue atop the negotiations agenda, she added.
Clinton said she still stands by her previous statement regarding the presence of Mullah Omar and Osama bin Laden.
She said the matter relating the extension the office term of Chief of the Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani is Pakistan’s internal affair.
Pakistan has reservations over signing the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), she said, adding the acquisition of civil nuclear technology is achievable but with the consent of the world community.
Clinton maintained the US-Pak civil nuclear cannot be entered without satisfying the international community.
The US top official said Haqqani network is involved in many sabotage activities in Pakistan.
