Flood in Punjab, Balochistan; affectees await aid
KARACHI: The flash floods affected various areas in Punjab and Balochistan with flood wave heading towards Naseerabad and Jafferabad, Geo News reported Sunday.
Another town in Rajanpur came under water as the embankment in the area breached; while, a flood approached Barasabad routed through Fazilpur from Mount Suleman.
The flood-affected areas are still cut off on fourth consecutive day today.
The flash flood triggered yesterday pulled down all huts and mud houses in Fazilpur’s Chak Ahmadani, leaving people without shelter under open skies. Also, the relief work to restore all link roads would be started today.
The flood-hit people had to come under open skies in Barkhan and Kohlu, where they are facing hardships owing to shortage of medicines, potable water and eatables.
Another body of a seven-year old out of 40 people who went missing adrift the flood, was recovered from a mountainous area, raising the number of deceased to 19; while, the search for the 11 missing is still on.
The flood water is fast approaching the areas of Naseerabad and Jaferabad from Barkhan, posing threat of great destruction.
