MQM parliamentary committee decides to sit in opposition
KARACHI: The MQM has resubmitted its request for opposition benches in the Sindh Assembly to Secretary Sindh Assembly. Former MQM minister, Dr Sagheer Ahmed said that there were no ongoing talks between the PPP and MQM, Geo News reported.
The MQM held its parliamentary party meeting in the chamber of MQM parliamentary leader Sardar Ahmed.
The meeting discussed the reservations which were brought forward on the MQM’s request for opposition benches. The reservations had been made by acting Sindh Assembly Speaker Shela Raza because the request did not contain signatures from all 51 MQM ministers.
The meeting decided that the reservations did not have any legal standing but the party would re-submit its request.
Speaking to the media after the meeting, Sardar Ahmed said that the MQM did not want to sit with the government and instead wanted to be part of the opposition.
