Papers cancelled, no transport available

KARACHI: The Federal Urdu University, Allam Iqbal Open University and Karachi University have cancelled the papers that were scheduled for today. The decision has been made due to the city situation as MQM is protesting against Zulfiqar Mirza's statements against MQM chief, Geo News reported Thursday.

The spokesmen of the universities told Geo News that all the papers have been canceled owing to the city situation and new dates will be announced later.

On the other hand, Chairman Karachi Transport Ittehad (KTI) Irshad Bukhari also announced that no transport will be brought on roads due to security reasons while traders will also remain closed and not take part in any business activity.

Fear has gripped the entire city and forced the citizens to stay indoors. People from different areas reported severe firing in the area and said that due to shortage of public transport and deteriorating situation, they could not reach offices.

At least ten people were killed and more than 20 hurt in different incidents of firing in the city while dozens of vehicles were set on fire on Thursday.
