ATC summons IG Sindh in Sarfaraz Shah case
KARACHI: During proceedings of Sarfaraz Shah murder case Friday, the anti-terrorism court (ATC) expressed anger over the absence of the investigation officer and summoned IG Sindh immediately, Geo News reported.
After the IG Sindh was summoned, the investigation officer, Sultan Khawaja, SP Legal Mazhar Ali and other police officials rushed to the court and said that in the future they would be punctual about arriving to court.
On Friday the statements of two witnesses including the chief gardener of the Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Park, Muhammed Ramzan was recorded. In his statement Ramzan said that after listening to the firing he arrived at the spot and saw the young man wearing a pant and shirt covered in blood clinging to his life. He added that the Rangers were standing around the young man.
“The man who caught the young man and Rangers were present in the court” Ramzan said.
The court completed proceedings for Friday and reserved its decision on the petition made by the defense lawyer to re summon three witnesses for cross examination and examine the crime scene with their statement.
The anti-terrorism court is hearing the murder case of Sarfaraz Shah, the young man who was killed in broad daylight at a park in Clifton, Karachi. Seven including six Rangers have been accused of his murder and if convicted could face up to life in prison or the death penalty. The murder caused shockwaves when footage of the incident was shown on news channels across the country.
