Railways cheque dishonoured; PSO threatens to shut supplies
KARACHI: Pakistan State Oil has threatened to shut the supply of diesel to Pakistan Railways after a cheque of Rs 20 million was dishonoured, Geo News reported.
At present Pakistan Railways has only two days worth of diesel supplies left.
A letter written by the management of PSO to Pakistan Railways stated that the PSO was owed Rs 1 billion by the Pakistan Railways and a cheque worth Rs 20 million was issued to cover this amount but it was dishonoured. PSO officials say that diesel cannot be supplied under these conditions.
Railway officials on the other hand say that they will try to arrange the payment for PSO so that operation is not stopped.
