PML-N decides to issue show cause notice to Aqeel
MURREE: The leadership of the PML-N has decided to issue a show cause notice to MNA Anjum Aqeel, Geo News reported.
PML-N Chief Nawaz Sharif said the decision of the courts in regards to Anjum Aqeel will be implemented.
Geo News has learnt through PML-N sources that this decision was taken during a meeting of the party leadership in Murree. The political scenario in the country and the Anjum Aqeel incident were discussed during the meeting.
Speaking about corruption, the PML-N Chief said that parties should have their own internal method of accountability. When the issue of MNA Anjum Aqeel came under discussion, Nawaz Sharif said a thorough investigation would be conducted and the MNA would have to answer all questions of the inquiry committee.
Anjum Aqeel was arrested in the federal capital on July 15 for his involvement in the National Police Foundation scam case. Upon his arrival at the Shalimar police station his supporters attacked the police and helped Aqeel escape. The MNA turned himself over to the authorities 24 hours later. On July 19 a judicial magistrate ordered that Aqeel be handed over to the police on a three-day physical remand. Earlier on the same day an anti-terrorism court had sent him to jail on a 14-day judicial remand.
