AJK 8 special seats’ polling underway
MUZAFFARABAD: Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly tenure ending today, while the new assembly will take oath tomorrow and the polling for the five women seats and one seat each for Uulema Mashaikh, technocrat and overseas Kashmiris are underway.
Altogether 14 candidates are contesting. Pakistan People’s Party, according to positions of the parties in assembly, has emerged as the largest parliamentary party and possibly the four women special seats and one each of the Ulema Mashaikh, technocrat and overseas Kashmiris could come in their fold, thus raising their strength in the assembly to 30 members.
However, PPP with such a big mandate could not announce thus far the names of leader of the house, speaker and deputy speaker.
The polling process was scheduled to start at 9.00 A.M. in the morning, but couldn’t take place until 11.00 A.M.
