Flowers exhibition expresses solidarity with quake-hit Japan

KARACHI: The Japanese Consulate in Karachi on Sunday arranged a traditional flowers’ exhibition, as part of a special prayer arranged for the people of Eastern Japan hit by tsunami, March this year.

Japanese Consul General in Karachi Masaharu Sato and Sindh Electric Power Minister Shazia Marri jointly inaugurated the exhibition, showcasing centuries old ‘Ikebana’ art relating to plants.

On the occasion she termed ‘Ikebana’ as a great source of inspiration for peace and love. Marri termed Japan a role model for the entire developing world. She hailed the Japanese nation particularly for their ability to come out of horrible crises and natural calamities.

She said that the fourth largest earthquake of history hit the brave Japanese nation but they expressed their traditional courage and proved their ability to defeat it.

Talking about the history of the country she said that Japan always overcomes all natural and man-made calamities and disasters.

Japanese Consul General in Karachi Masaharu Sato in his speech thanked Pakistanis for their cooperation with the earthquake affected Japanese. He also spoke about the brotherly relations between the two nations.

He talked about the miseries and problems and the manner in which Japanese nation responded to the situation. He was of the view that both countries help each other in all hard times, which brings them, closer. On the occasion, Ikenobo Group’s President Prof Asifa Itaka, renowned Pakistani intellectualist Fatima Surraya Bajiya and others also expressed their views. staff report
