Bilawal to contest election from Lyari: Zardari
KARACHI: President Asif Ali Zardari said, on Monday, that Bilawal Bhutto Zardari would return to the country in September and will contest next general elections from Lyari seat. The president was chairing a meeting held to review Karachi situation at the Bilawal House. He directed to expedite work on public welfare projects and ordered their completion by next year. Meanwhile, the president presided over a high level meeting at Bilawal House on Monday which discussed the on-going projects under Lyari development package. Sindh Chief Minister, Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Federal Interior Minister, Rehman Malik, provincial ministers and legislators from Lyari and high officials also attended the meeting. The meeting reviewed the progress on projects, including roads, sewerage system, Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University, flyovers and water supply schemes. President Zardari underlined the need for strict compliance on projects, proper utilisation of funds and early completion of these schemes to benefit the people of Lyari. Earlier, in the briefing on Lyari development package, the president was told that Rs 2.8 billion have been spent during last three years. staff report
