No letup in ongoing spate of target killings in Karachi
* 11 more fall prey to separate acts of violence
* Two lawyers among those killed

KARACHI: There was no letup in the ongoing spate of target killings as 11 more fell prey to separate acts of violence in Karachi on Friday.
Two advocates were shot dead near FTC Bridge on Sharah-e-Faisal within the limits of Brigade police station. Advocates Mohammad Saleem and Faheem Riaz were going in a car (Z-9053) when unidentified armed men intercepted them and sprayed bullets before fleeing. Both lawyers were fatally shot on the face. In a bid to escape, lawyers’ car knocked a cyclist Noman before ramming into an electric pole. Bodies were shifted to JPMC for medico-legal formalities.
SHO Akhtar Abbas said police recovered empty shells of 9 mm pistol from the spot. Police say Bhatti was vice president of PML-N Lawyers’ Forum while Riaz was also a member. Case was not registered till filing of this report.
Separately, a Sunni Tehreek activist was shot dead at Rozi Goth within the remit of Surjani police station. Zahid Qadri,40, was sitting outside his home when unidentified armed men targeted him. Body was shifted to JPMC for post-mortem.
Meanwhile, three people were gunned down when unidentified armed men attacked two teashops located near Sindhi hotel within the precincts of New Karachi Industrial Area police station. In first incident, armed motorcyclists targeted New Quetta Hotel, killing hotel owner Saeed, 35 and his employee Ikhlaq, 30. Shortly, unknown armed men attacked Quetta Bismillah Hotel in the same vicinity killing Subhan, 28.
In another incident, a local businessman was gunned down while his female housemaid injured when armed men attacked a car near Nagan Chowrangi within Sir Syed police limits. DSP Altaf Hussain said deceased Anwar, 40, resided in the People’s Chowrangi area, adding that he was accompanied by her female housemaid Fatima, 12, who was also wounded in the incident.
In Frere police limits, Faheem-ul-Haq alias Moon, 30, was gunned down near Punjab Colony. Police said that the deceased lived in Gizri and had criminal record. He was recently released on bail.
Three bodies were found from separate parts of the city. One Imran, 27, son of Mohammad Khan was found dead from Khajji ground within Rizvia police remit. Hands and legs tied with a rope, he was shot twice. Police said deceased was a resident of Pak Colony and worked as a salesman at local shopping mall. SHO Masroor Ejaz said victim was missing since Thursday night. Body was shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for autopsy and later handed over to the heirs.
Similarly, two torture-marked, bullet-riddled bodies of young men were found from Kalakot and Orangi Town. The identities of victims are yet to be ascertained and in both incidents, culprits killed them after kidnapping from unknown places.
Meanwhile, law enforcement agencies detained and released nearly 70 suspects in an overnight search operation in various parts of the metropolis. The searched areas included Old Sabzi Mandi, PIB Colony, Essa Nagri, Madina Colony, Orangi Town, Qasba Colony, Bukhari Colony, Gulfamabad, Kati Pahari and Aligarh Colony. Many houses were raided as part of the targeted operation after incidents of firing were reported from houses in the recent wave of violence.
