Possibility of unification of Pakistan Muslim League’s factions

Staff Report

KARACHI: Former Sindh chief minister, Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim, made a telephonic contact to Pir Pagaro on Saturday from Dubai and discussed political situation and possibility of unification of Muslim League’s factions, and election alliance in the Sindh during forthcoming general elections.
Rahim told the media persons through phone that Pagaro is an elder, and he would be agree with Pagaro what he decides regarding the political alliance. Both the leaders agree to continue dialogue between leadership of the both parties in province.
After Rahim’s contact with Pagaro, it is likely that Rahim would soon return to the country by ending his prolong self-exile. Recently another PML-Q leader, former chief minister of Balochistan, Jam Yousaf, had also returned to the country. Both had remained the chief ministers of their provinces during former military dictator, General (retired) Pervez Musharraf.
Jam Yousaf was involved in murder of Baloch leader, Nawab Akbar Bugti, who was assassinated during his tenure. He had recently got protection bail in the case. Jam Yousaf was inducted into cabinet of Raja Parvez Ashraf soon after his arrival.
Similarly, Rahim, though was not formally inducted into Benazir Bhutto murder case, but is blamed to fail in providing security to Benazir Bhutto. He was the chief minister of Sindh when Benazir Bhutto had returned to the country on October 18 2007, and was first attacked in Karachi when twin blasts had hit her welcome convoy at Karsaz spot. Advisor to the prime minister on home affairs, Rehman Malik had announced last year that Arbab Rahim will be interrogated on his return for his controversial statement he had issued regarding the possible attack on Benazir Bhutto’s rally.
Meanwhile, former Sindh Chief Secretary, Aslam Sanjrani, has entered into politics by joining Pir Pagaro led PML-F. He made such announcement during his meeting with Pir Pagaro held at the Kingri House on Saturday. Pir Pagaro welcomed him into the party fold, and said that everyone would be welcomed who would serve Sindh.
