No breakthrough in reopening NATO supply route: FO
ISLAMABAD: Foreign Office spokesman Muazzam Khan said Monday that a final decision regarding the NATO supply route had not been made. Speaking to the media Khan added that talks between Pakistan and the US would continue.ISAF Commander General John Allen is in Pakistan for the second time within a span of seven days and is holding meetings with military and civilian officials in an effort to restore the NATO supply route.
Pakistan had stopped supplies following the NATO attack on the Salala check post in November last year. 24 Pakistani soldiers were killed in the attack and Islamabad has asked Washington to apologise for the incident and respect its sovereignty before the supply route is reopened.
Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar met with General Allen in the federal capital, however there was no agreement reached over the NATO supply route.
According to sources, the US is willing to apologise for the Salala attack, however the apology will be made by civilian and not military officials.
Meanwhile the Defence Committee of the Federal Cabinet is also expected to meet this week where Pakistan’s Ambassador to the US Sherry Rehman will give a briefing.
