Pak-NATO cooperation important for both parties: Rasmussen
BRUSSELS: NATO Secretary General Andres Fogh Rasmussen said Monday that it was necessary for both NATO and Pakistan to cooperate. Speaking to reporters, Rasmussen hoped that Pakistan would soon reopen the NATO supply route.
Efforts to reopen the NATO supply route which was shut following the November 26, 2011 attack on the Salala check post have intensified. ISAF Commander General John Allen arrived in Pakistan on Sunday to hold talks with military and civilian leadership over the reopening of the supply route.
On Afghanistan, Rasmussen said that NATO intended to hand over security responsibilities to Afghan forces by 2012 adding that the international community should come forward and help in the country’s development and elimination of corruption.
