Increased shortfall results in 18-hr loadshedding

LAHORE: The electricity shortfall in the country has increased to 4,870 MW resulting in prolonged hours of loadshedding Monday, Geo News reported.

Despite tall claims by Energy Management Cell, no substantial improvement could be made and the situation worsened throughout the country, resulting in 12 to 18 hours of loadshedding.

Currently, the electricity production stands at 12,844 MW compared to the demand of 17,714 MW, therefore, the shortfall is 4,870 MW.

The Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) is being provided with 700 MW of electricity on daily basis.

The residents of Lahore are facing up to 12 hours of power outages while the duration in rural areas has surged to 18 hours.

People are facing severe difficulties due to high temperature that has caused more loadshedding and water scracity in many areas.
