Afghan stability core national goal for Pakistan: Khar

TOKYO: Foreign Minister Hina Rabbani Khar has said that peace and stability in

Afghanistan is a core national goal for Pakistan.

This was stated by her while speaking at the Tokyo Conference on Afghanistan where.

Khar added that peace and stability in Afghanistan is contingent upon commitment by regional countries not to use Afghanistan soil to destabilize Afghanistan’s neighbours.

Foreign Minister Khar announced that Pakistan would award one thousand scholarships for Afghan students, besides offering capacity building program for Afghanistan in areas of banking, finance, telecommunication and several other fields.

She said that Pakistan will also undertake construction of 25 basic health units and 25 schools in Afghanistan.

Foreign Minister Khar and Secretary of State Clinton met for bilateral consultation on the sidelines of Tokyo Conference on Afghanistan. The meeting will be followed by trilateral core group meeting of Pakistan, Afghanistan and United States of America.
