Every third man being picked up by FC in Balochistan: CJ

QUETTA: The Supreme Court at its Quetta registry on Monday resumed the hearing of a petition on the law and order situation and human rights violations in Balochistan, Geo News reported.

Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad CHaudhry during the hearing in his remarks said that every third man was being picked up by the Frontier Corp in Balochistan.

Balochistan home minister, Zafrullah Zehri appeared before the court during today’s hearing.

Balochistan Advocate General during the hearing told the court that a gang of three persons involved in the murder of clerics have been nabbed. He further said that four more missing persons have come out in public.

On this occasion CJ remarked that we have no answer to give to the people, we ourselves are feeling ashamed. The Chief Justice asked the AG to take the list of 135 missing persons and give compensations to their family members. Only four persons were recovered, which means you are not serious, CJ remarked.

CJ asked Balochistan home minister to give in writing that you cannot control the situation.

Advocate General replied that none could assure in writing hundred percent recovery of missing persons.

CJ also inquired about the details of pilgrims’ bus bombing incident at Hazarganji. DIG operation, Hamid Shakeel briefed the CJ on the incident.

To this CJ remarked that the customs department has made the law and order situation worst confounded, as they release the Kabuli vehicles by taking bribes. Reprimanding the customs officials he said that do some kind things to this country.

Senior lawyer Tahir Shah on this occasion told that most of the police officials were driving Kabuli vehicles.

CJ inquired from the customs officials how many Kabuli vehicles were pounded by your department. To this they replied that by now 200 vehicles were seized. CJ said that most of the crimes were being committed in these vehicles and your officers were associated in every incident of the crime.

Later, the Chief Justice gave a deadline of 15 days to the customs officials for taking actions against the illegal vehicles.
