PPP-S demands explanation over NATO supply reopening

PESHAWAR: Pakistan People’s Party-Sherpao (PPP-S) in a meeting of its central executive committee asked the government to tell the nation what it had achieved by reopening the NATO supply routes.

The meeting, held on Sunday with its cheif Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao in the chair, decided to take the issue on floor of the National Assembly in the forthcoming session, a press statement issued after the meeting read.

It said the provincial government, on the one hand, was expressing helplessness to provide security in Peshawar Central Jail, while on the other, it had promised of making foolproof security arrangements for NATO supplies.

It expressed fears that law and order situation of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa might exacerbate with the reopening of routes and its people would bear the brunt.

“If the routes were to be opened then why was it delayed for seven months,” the meeting asked the government. The meeting also decided unanimously to oppose the proposed dual nationality bill and amendments in contempt of court laws. The meeting expressed full confidence in the leadership of Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao, the statement said.
