Holding free‚ fair, polls would be a challenge: Fakhruddin

ISLAMABAD: Former justice Fakhruddin G. Ebrahim, who has been unanimously approved by the Parliamentary Committee as new Chief Election Commissioner CEC says holding free, fair and impartial general elections in the country would be a challenge for him.

Talking to newsmen here on Tuesday he said media and civil society will have to help Election Commission in this regard. He said he would look as to why the voter's list was incomplete.

Responding to a question, Ebrahim said the date for holding general elections date would be announced by the prime minister. He said he would work with consensus. Election Commission is independent from influence of government, he added.
