Balochistan case: SC summons IGFC
QUETTA: The Supreme Court has summoned the Inspector General Frontier Corps (IGFC) and Commandant Chaghi Militia in the Balochistan Law and Order case.
A three member bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry resumed hearing the case at its Quetta registry on Tuesday.
During proceedings of the case, FC lawyer Raja Irshad informed the court that there was not a single person in the custody of the FC, to which the Chief Justice replied that there was evidence contrary to this
The FC lawyer asked for time for an in-camera briefing, while the court said it was giving a last chance to the FC as there was evidence against them of picking up people.
The advocate general informed the court that 18 missing persons had been recovered, while the bodies of seven others had been found.
The Chief Justice also asked the provincial home minister to inform the court of the number of target killings during the months of June and July. The home minister informed the court that 101 people in June became victims of target killing in the province out of which 86 were ordinary people and 16 were policemen.
The apex court was also informed that during an operation three members of the Laskhar-e-Mehdi were arrested who had admitted to murdering 24 Ulema.
