5 dead in Pak Army chopper crash in Skardu

ISLAMABAD/SKARDU: A Pakistan Army helicopter crashed during a test flight in northern Pakistan on Wednesday, killing five people on board, the military said. The MI-17 helicopter came down on the runway of an airport in the northwestern city of Skardu. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the army, said a helicopter crashed around 5pm in Skardu region and five people, including two pilots were killed in the incident. It said the information was being gathered regarding the dead and injured. The helicopter was returning from Gayari when it crashed due to a technical fault. Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf expressed deep sorrow and grief over the tragic incident of crashing of army's helicopter. In his message, the prime minister prayed for the eternal peace of the killed soldiers. agencies
