Nato supplies backlog clearance will take time: US

WASHINGTON: United States has said it understands that Pakistan has just begun the process of activating the supply routes, adding that it will take time for the backlog of Nato supplies to be cleared.

During a daily press briefing here on Thursday, US State Department's spokesman Ventrell said that several containers have moved across the border into Afghanistan.

The spokesman said "we understand the Pakistanis continue to be committed to getting things moving. We are working together to put in place a range of technical measures and instructions necessary for transit."

"We're confident that these procedures will be put in place and allow many more trucks to move expeditiously," he added.
