Miners refuse to work in Balochistan coalmines

QUETTA: Following the abduction and death of seven miners, coalminers have refused to work in mines across Balochistan.

According to the President of the Labour Federation, Abdul Rehman, the coalmines will remain closed till Thursday following which a meeting will be held to discuss the future course of action.

The bodies of seven kidnapped miners were found from the suburban area of Degari on July 12.

These coalminers had been abducted by unidentified gunmen from the Sorange mining fields, some 20 kilometres away from Quetta on July 7.

The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court has taken suo moto notice of the deaths and on July 12 summoned a report within three days.
